Our 2020 Year in Review

Like most folks, we’ve had a challenging and surprising year. But after a virtual halt to our work in March and then a pivot to creating mostly digital work, we became busier than ever and found a new sweet spot. So now looking back at 2020, our team has grown and met challenges in ways we did not anticipate, but that we certainly appreciate.

Here are some of our highlights:

We shifted from creating mostly tangible work (back) to mostly digital illustration and video

When most of the world moved to “stay at home”, our clients canceled their in-person events in favor of bringing them online. So we decided to meet them in the virtual world – with creative solutions to match.

2020 brought us new opportunities to tap our digital roots and collaborate with our clients to make their digital projects visual, vibrant and memorable.

This year we’ve enjoyed making lots of new projects – using lots of familiar and new tools and virtual platforms:

Plus explainer videos, infographics, posters and so much more.

We are especially excited to expand our animation and digital live service offerings next year.

We developed our team

This year, our focus was supporting our team from a distance. Learning new platforms along with the rest of the world. Skill-sharing with each other and peer groups, lots of briefs and tech updates, getting intimate with our iPads. :)

Another unexpected benefit of the circumstances – we also got to collaborate with new artists from across the U.S. – without anyone leaving our homes.

In fact, as we close out 2020, we’re working to grow our contract artist team to meet growing demand. If you know someone who might be ready and interested, tell them to reach out!

We grew our client reach

While we could not travel this year, the virtual world still brought us client partnerships from far off timezones – across Europe in addition to cities all over the U.S.

Plus, we were excited to partner with repeat clients in a whole new way as well. Where you might have seen us with our packs of markers before, this year we got to collaborate with you in the vast world of digital.

2020 brought us all the challenge of making virtual projects interesting, creative and engaging. In a sea of virtual platforms and tools, we were impressed by the creative, fun and memorable engagements we participated in this year.

We’re looking forward to next year!

Although it has been challenging, 2020 gave us a chance to expand our digital toolsets and virtual platform fluencies, grow our team skillset and service offerings, and work with clients across the globe to make work that we’re proud of.

In 2021, we look forward to fostering our team, taking on more creative frontiers, and working with you to help tell your stories and share your ideas.

We may not know what the next year will bring, but we can say we’re always up for a creative challenge.
