WECU 90-Year Celebration Case Study

Looking for a way to make your corporate event more engaging, memorable, and visually impactful?

At WECU’s 90-year anniversary celebration, we provided live graphic recording and interactive visual storytelling to capture the organization’s story in real time—transforming a leadership event into a shared, visual experience.

What Is Live Graphic Recording?

Live graphic recording (also called visual note-taking or graphic facilitation) translates spoken content into large-scale visual notes during an event.

As speakers present, a visual facilitator listens for key ideas and illustrates them live—so your audience can see the conversation unfold.

Best for:

  • Corporate events and all-hands meetings

  • Conferences and keynote sessions

  • Leadership retreats and offsites

  • Strategic planning and vision workshops

Case Study: WECU 90th birthday all-employee Event

WECU brought together their entire team to:

  • Celebrate 90 years of impact

  • Reflect on a decade of growth

  • Launch a new 5-year strategic vision

We created a live illustrated summary that captured:

  • Their origin story (a shoebox + community-driven lending)

  • Leadership insights and employee voices

  • Key milestones and transformation

  • Strategic priorities: growth, community impact, and equity

As the event unfolded, the visual built in real time—creating a shared map of WECU’s past, present, and future.

Interactive Art Installation: Capturing Employee Voice

In addition to live graphic recording, we designed an interactive art installation to capture employee voice.

Participants responded to the prompt: “In one or two words, what strengths should WECU carry into the future?”

Their answers were written directly onto 4-foot-tall foam letters spelling WECU, turning the installation into a collective expression of shared values.

Why Visual Note-Taking + Interactive Art Works

Combining live graphic recording with participatory installations creates a deeper level of engagement.

It helps organizations:

  • Increase engagement → audiences stay present and involved

  • Improve retention → visuals make ideas stick

  • Clarify strategy → complex ideas become accessible

  • Build alignment → teams see the same big picture

  • Create ownership → participants contribute to the outcome

  • Extend impact → visuals and installations live on after the event

The Result

By the end of the event, WECU had:

  • A large-scale visual summary capturing their full story

  • A participatory installation filled with employee-generated values

  • A cohesive narrative connecting 90 years of history to a 5-year vision

The outputs became lasting assets—used to reinforce culture, communicate strategy, and celebrate the organization’s people.
